About the position:
The Oncology Clinical Nurse Navigator/Coordinator functions as a member of the multidisciplinary team who has clinical nursing expertise in cancer. She/he is a clinical resource, advocate, and educator. She/he works with the goal of helping patients overcome health care system barriers and facilitates timely access to treatment. She/he is responsible for ensuring all patients with a cancer diagnosis receive quality and comprehensive services. She/he coordinates patient care across the continuum, from diagnosis through survivorship. She/he serves as a clinical resource with expertise in cancer care management and is a liaison within the facility and to the community. She/he is present in the medical oncology clinic as a vital member of the oncology care team.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
- Strong commitment to patient-centered care within an interdisciplinary environment.
- Demonstrated initiative.
- Communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with a wide variety of individuals.
- Basic computer skills.
MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
- Experience: Preferred three years direct patient care experience in oncology.
- Licensure: Current District of Columbia licensure or eligibility.
- Education: Minimum nursing baccalaureate degree from an accredited school.
- Certification: certification from the Oncology Nursing Certification Corporation Program (ONCC) or other cancer specific nursing certification. If not certified obtains within 12 months of hire.
